A Tale as Old as Time is a quiet reminder that even the smallest glimmer of hope has the power to illuminate the deepest darkness.

Inspired by the defining moment in Beauty and the Beast when everything changes for the Beast, this painting captures the instant before despair gives way to possibility. Just as he is ready to surrender to the darkness around him, life surprises him with light—in the form of Belle, and the hope she unknowingly brings with her.

For me, hope is perhaps the bravest emotion we carry. It asks us to believe in what we cannot yet see, to trust that light still exists even when it feels impossibly far away. Sometimes, all it takes is a single flicker to remind us that dawn has been quietly making its way towards us all along.

Why is it Special?

Painted using a combination of acrylic painting techniques and my signature 3D Acrylic Textures technique, the composition draws the eye through layers of light and shadow. A forgotten castle stands quietly in the darkness, while a single illuminated window reveals the silhouettes of Belle and the Beast dancing together. Beneath them, overgrown roses continue to bloom, their sculptural petals created by hand as a quiet reminder that hope often survives long before we recognise it.

Every textured detail has been carefully built by hand, allowing the painting to reveal subtle depth and changing highlights as the light shifts throughout the day. More than a depiction of a familiar scene, it becomes a reminder that even the smallest source of light can transform everything around it.
